Teacher Education

Teacher Education at Washington and Lee has developed, changed, and matured over recent years. Many graduates have gone through the program and have entered teaching as well as other professions. The program currently works in partnership with Mary Baldwin College to provide all required courses for teacher certification. These courses combine instruction in current, research-based practices with time spent in community schools to provide students with a broad foundation in education and to produce prepared teachers and leaders in education.

The mission of Teacher Education at Washington and Lee is to prepare students to become teachers who are intelligent, compassionate, honorable, and dynamic leaders in their classrooms, schools, and communities. However, in addition to a path to Teacher Certification, we offer numerous opportunities for students to familiarize themselves with the field of education.

We look forward to working with all students interested in exploring education. Please contact us with your questions.
